Random stranger: Whoa, you are soooo short!
Third grader: Ms. Paxton, I'm almost as tall as you!
Seventh grader: Hehe, I'm taller than you!
Junior High Counselor: Where's your sub?! Did the sub not show up today?! Where is she?!
Me: Um, I'm right here.
Junior High Counselor: Oh, though you were one of the kids!
Now, when people comment about my most obvious attribute, I will have a smart, research-based retort: "I may be short, but I have a lower cancer risk than you!"
Yes, that's right. According to a link in MSNBC's The Body Odd, the shorter women are the lower their cancer risk. In fact, the risk of cancer in women rises 16% with every four inch increase in height.
To all you five-foot plus giants out there:
Look at me strangely when I climb the supermarket shelves like a spider monkey.
Laugh at me when I have to get a step stool to reach my kitchen cabinets.
I'll just smile because I know there is a plus side to being fun size!
